How much time are you spending in NY? If you have time to kill…
1. Rent a car. Then..
2a. Drive up I-87 , through the Adirondacks. The fall folliage will BE SPECTACULAR!! The mountains alone are stunning and there are some great views of Lake Champlain. About a 3 hour drive.
2b. Drive 87 to Exit 20 Lake George, route 9 north to route 149 to route 4 into vermont (stop at farmstand near VT border, get fresh apples) until you get to route 100. Route 100 North is one of the best scenic drives in the Northeast USA, going through the Green Mountains. During foliage season, it’s gorgeous! 5 hours+
Either way, it’s a pretty time in pretty country.
